In loving memory

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there…. I do not sleep.

I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there – I did not die.

I am playing in the meadow. Learning to fly.

Ingen hevelser, ingen vannfylling, ingen smerter i kne, men store smerter i hofte uten at undersøkelser forklarer hvorfor.

This lovely bear of a cat came to us in february 2007 just two month befor we got our first puppy Nemi. We got him from F.O.D in Trondheim, an organisation who works for homeless cats. He was aprox 3-4 years at that time, had been living at the cat shelter for about a year. My husband thought he was the coolest cat ever even though he didn’t have any tail. The tail was gone after an operation to save him after either a car-hit or attac of a badger – they don’t know exactly what but he was found hurt. Since he was living with a lot of other cats at the shelter he was at bit withdrawn when we first visited him, but we just couldn’t resist him. So we brought him home and surely it was a great match for us. He don’t fancy beeing carried, and in the beginning when we cudled him he could suddenly with no prediction at all jus hit us with his paw – and he hits really hard. It was as if all the cudling came to a point where he got to much adrenalin and just needed to get rid of it. Also it might have been a sign of precariousness cause in time this behaviour almosed vanished. Sometimes he also allow us to carry him, but not without som protesting meows. He has for sure settled down and has his own cat door so he can come and go as he likes. When it comes to the dogs, he just don’t seem to care about any of them. As long as he gets his favorite food, gets to lie in our bed at night, and be cuddled once and a while when he claims company – he is purely happy.
Unfortunately after living with us for 7 years, our male dog started to chase Bamse last summer. He was trigged by the fact he could scare Bamse and use him for hunting. After a year struggling with this there was no way out, but trying to find Bamse a home were he could live his last days as old cat and don’t have to be worried about dog’s chasing him all around. For a cat at the age of 11 we really thought he would have a some happy days left, so it was shock to find out that Bamse had sever kidney trouble. There were nothing that could be done, and so now Bamse is running around chasing mouses on the other side of rainbow bridge.
